VATSIM ATC. Melbourne Approach on VRC

Virtual Radar Client (“VRC”) is one of the freeware programs available to be Air Traffic Control on Vatsim.

In this video I use VRC (available at http://www1.metacraft.com/VRC/ ) to control “Melbourne Approach” during Australia’s weekly Sydney to Melbourne / Melbourne to Sydney event “Milk Run Monday”

In addition to VRC, I am using the VATPAC “Sector Files” for Melbourne found at http://www.vatpac.org/cms/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=125&func=select&id=3 (VRC download).

VATPAC detail their terminal areas via TMA Suppliments. These can be downloaded at http://www.vatpac.org/cms/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=125&func=select&id=10

Being a controller on VATSIM is free, however there is some training required. To be given rights to control, you will need to pass some assesments by VATSIM Instructors and Mentors.

For more informaiton, check out VATPAC’s “Controller Training” page at http://www.vatpac.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=186&Itemid=112

All VATPAC Training Staff are volunteers who take time out of their schedule to provide free training and assessment services to fellow members. Please be mindful of this and understand that it’s not always possible to service your request immediately. You can do your bit to help support the work of Training Staff by confining official training requests and enquiries to EMAIL, so that we can properly respond to you. Please also be mindful that Training Staff also like to take time to enjoy flying and controlling too.

I hope you enjoy this look into one small area of “the other side of the radar scope”.
