Alok Bardiya, of Cisco, professes that connecting machines has been around for years. What’s new is the connectivity – sensors, networking, cloud which come together to connect processes to people. They numbers are huge – 50 bill IoT devices with a US$19 trillion valuation. The whole stack is now woven around the multiple layers of physical devices and sensors, connectivity, infrastructure, platform apps and bring it to the biz process / consumer. The opportunity now lies in the areas of security, vertical apps, Services (managed or consulting), applications on sensors etc.
