Funkadelic – Standing on the Verge of Getting it On

Classic Soul Album Series

Funkadelic’s 1974 release “Standing on the Verge of getting it On” is arguably their tightest set with the young Eddie Hazel’s guitar standing out on virtually every track. It was the only album he fully participated in. George Clinton is in top form on the classic funk & rock soul style that was left field of anything on black radio in the early ’70s. Topping out at number 13 on the Soul Album Charts, Funkadelic was still a cult act at this stage and the Mothership would not land for another 2 years… featuring Alice in My Fantasies and the deep philosophical closer “Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts.”
