Over 40 millions of this Russian gold coin were minted from 1898 to 1911 and more than half of them were all minted in 1899. Many of the them are believed to have been melted down after the collapse of Russian Empire.

Today, these coins command at least a 30% premium over spot. The ones in mint conditions are especially rare.
