Yes, Bitcoin Gold (BTG) is a movement to fork bitcoin and create a new cryptocurrency. The new coin, Bitcoin Gold, will use GPUs for mining instead of specialized hardware know as ASICs. This can potentially allow Bitcoin to be more decentralized.
