VeriCoin (VRC) is a decentralized and open-source digital currency forked from Blackcoin in May 2014. It highlights a variable interest rate which changes depending on how many coins are staking”; as more coins are used to support (stake) the network, the interest rate climbs. The project has developed several innovative features into its software, such as VeriBit – a service that enables the user to pay for items with VeriCoin wherever Bitcoin is accepted, and VeriSMS – a text-based gateway and wallet network that enables VeriCoin users to make transactions by sending SMS messages. VeriCoin transactions are currently confirmed at 10x faster speed than Bitcoin and will be even faster when paired with Verium. Transaction fees are minuscule. Miners earn Verium via Proof-of-Work-Time (PoWT) with higher fees and slower block times. Verium can be mined by anyone with a PC or laptop. Verium is ASIC and GPU resistant enabling anyone to participate. This creates a more distributed network and improved security over centralized mining schemes. VeriCoin and Verium were built to be compatible with shared addresses and private keys. After the release of Artis, users will be able to easily exchange the Verium & VeriCoin across chains without the need for a third party.
