Microsoft has concluded that layer 2 scaling solutions (such as “Lightning Network”) are superior to on-chain scaling (like the BCH blocksize increase).

A bigger block size pushes the scaling problem down the road; and Lightning Network is a cryptographic scaling solution, and the Lightning Network has been growing rapidly, now over 1750 nodes (more than the Bitcoin Cash network).
