Verge (XVG) 51% Attack, as XVG price is up over 100%!

► Verge currency is under massive attack.
► Suprnova & other mining pools affected
► Developers call this “FUD” and and block me on Verge SubReddit.

Verge is on the “verge” of massive partnership announcements with (supposedly) Amazon, PayPal, Ebay, and now their network is compromised.

Sunerok – lead Verge developer (founder of verge i guess) blocked me on Verge subreddit, and is giving lame excuses that some other pools are finding blocks.

Most mining pools affected across different algorithms (X17, Blake2s, Scrypt, etc)

VERGE is under a severe network attack since about 13h (start 06:00 UTC) where all blocks mined by normal pools are rejected – this party is mining most of the blocks on the VERGE network due to several flaws in VERGE’s code. The current dev team seems to refuse any fix or is unable to fix it. The pool is therefore closed until further notice as you won’t get rewarded correctly until this issue is fixed.

Network Attack on XVG / VERGE

There’s currently a 51% attack going on on XVG which exploits a bug in retargeting in the XVG code.

Usually to successfully mine XVG blocks, every “next” block must be of a different algo.. so for example scrypt,then x17, then lyra etc.

Due to several bugs in the XVG code, you can exploit this feature by mining blocks with a spoofed timestamp. When you submit a mined block (as a malicious miner or pool) you simply
set a false timestamp to this block one hour ago and XVG will then “think” the last block mined on that algo was one hour ago.. Your next block, the subsequent block
will then have the correct time.. And since it’s already an hour ago (at least that is what the network thinks) it will allow this block to be added to the main chain as well.
