ICO’s have forever change the way startups and entrepreneurs raise funds, with records of startups launching ICOs before they have a working product. Debates still loom over the damage ICO has done to the traditional venture capital systems.
While that is ongoing, Ripple has launched an initiative for startups with a different method of fund raising; Xpring (pronounced Spring). With Xpring, Ripple would fund startups rather than raising funds themselves via crowdfunding.
According to Ripple, Xpring will only invest in, and provide grants to ‘Serious’ projects and companies run by ‘proven’ entrepreneurs. Xpring will provide capital funds for startups and projects that make use of XRP and the open source XRP ledger blockchain technology.
