In today’s video I’m taking a look at the new 1999 CART Champ Car mod for Assetto Corsa by the VRC Modding team.
Sometimes I have to add qualifiers to statements I make in my videos – like saying “this is good for the price”, or “this is is great considering the limitations”. But with the VRC 1999 Champ Car, there’s none of that. This is a great car full stop. Arguably one of the best ever produced for Assetto Corsa. And, you can have it for less than the price of a pint at my local.
I think it’s fair to say that the 90s were a real high point for US open wheel racing. Manufacturers, sponsors and driving talent alike flocked to CART en masse – all wanting to be a part of serious racing series in its ascendence. And, even after the sport shot itself in the foot in 1996 during the indycar champ car split, arguably some of the best racing was still to come. And that brings me to this – VRCs excellent representation of a 1999 Champ Car.
