Indoor Smart Trainers – Unlocking True Gradient Simulation // Tacx Neo Demo

Maximum gradient simulation is a value on all indoor trainer specification sheets. You’ll see 20% maximum simulation, 25% maximum on top of the range units… 10-15% gradient on mid-range units. Down to 6-7% on entry level units. This value is an indication of the strength of the resistance unit / braking force the trainer can apply to the energy (watts) you put into it. The bigger the braking force of the trainer, the bigger the gradient it can simulate. Next to these ‘maximum gradient’ numbers on the spec sheets should be a giant asterisk*. That’s because gradient simulation isn’t the same for everyone. This video covers the details of maximum gradient on interactive smart bicycle trainers.
