RT-524/VRC Basic Overview – Military Vehicle Radio

Before SINCGARS radios came along, the most advanced vehicle radio in the U.S. military was the RT-524/VRC. From the 1970’s through the 90’s and even into the 21st century, this radio provided FM communications support for M151 Jeeps, Humvees, and other armored vehicles. The RT-524 is manually tuned to any of 920 different channels between 30.00MHz and 74.95MHz (same as the PRC-25 and PRC-77). It has two transmit power settings for either 8 Watt output power or 35 Watt output power.
