Today, instead of doing multiple news segments, there’s one particular very notable and fascinating news item I’d love to dive in deep with you guys.

Now looking at the market. As you can see here, it’s a bit of a red market to kick the day off with but, the reds are not too severe. First up we have Bitcoin, falling at 1.32%, then Ethereum, decreasing at 1.16%, and XRP increasing by 2.02%. If we move onto the top 20, you can also see a similar pattern emerging. Unfortunately for all our TRON lovers out there, TRON has slipped back down from the top 10 to the top 20, as it falls by 6.44%, Special mentions to IOTA which has increased by 11.17%.

Now let’s look at the news. As I’ve mentioned in the preview, IOTA has released Coordicide, the plan to improve scalability but most importantly, rid the network’s Coordinator, the most centralized component in the system. Oftentimes, while you can remove a central entity, the network becomes unstable.

According to the Think Web’s Hard Fork, an IOTA representative mentioned that “The IOTA Foundation is already working on implementation, but the timeline will depend on a number of variables. The IOTA Foundation has a loose timeline of early 2023, but this could happen faster or sooner depending on these variables.

The team has however been teasing the community quite a lot, dropping a number of hints last week. But they all reached a strong peak when the Foundation dropped this video, where the co-founder Popov mentioned that there was a breakthrough when it came to understanding how they can phase out the Coordinator.

And if they did, that’s going to be one really awesome network. This is definitely something I’d love to see. Many on both Discord and Reddit were very excited about the news and what it could mean for the network. Scalability has always been a major issue for decentralized networks.

We’ll have to wait and see if IOTA can move forward seamlessly, or that they will encounter similar implementation problems as Ethereum. It’s, therefore, no surprise that IOTA has shot up pretty well in the market lately.
