Tezos conducts a 4-stage process when upgrade proposals are submitted. Each stage is designed to coordinate and align the community’s interests which then seamlessly upgrades the Tezos protocol without hardforking.
Tezos recently upgraded with this method with a proposal submitted by Nomadic Labs and successfully implemented the changes.
