How to mine new Monero (CN/R) with SRBMiner Cryptonight

1. Download SRBMiner Cryptonight AMD GPU Miner from http://www.srbminer.com

2. Unzip the archive somewhere

3. We will set up mining of Monero.

– First you need to create a new wallet address, download the wallet from
https://github.com/monero-project/monero-gui/releases

Install it and create a new wallet address.

– Then you have to choose a pool you want to mine on, i will use monero.herominers.com

4. Go to miner folder and double click on guided-setup.bat
The interactive configuration creator will start

5. Let’s see the questions and answers:

– Coin name should be the name of the coin you are creating the configuration for. In this example its monero

– Algorithm for monero is Cryptonight V4 (R) [30]

– Double threads means use 2 threads/GPU, we enter ‘y’ here because we want to be faster

– System shutdown temperature is safety setting, if any of your GPU’s overheats for any reason, and reaches
this temperature, your computer will automatically shut down. We set 90c here.

– GPU protection temperature is also a safety setting, it wont let your GPU’s overheat, and if a GPU reaches
this temperature, it will be turned off until it cools down by 15c, then it will be turned back on.
We set 80c here.

– Address and port of mining pool is what we get from the pool’s site [monero.herominers.com:10191]

– Password will be the name of your mining machine

– This is not a nicehash pool.

– We won’t be using SSL/TLS encryption

– Address of the wallet is the one you generated with the wallet software you just downloaded

– The unique identificator for the miner is useful if we have a few rigs, and we want to see statistics
for them separately on the pool. Give it the same name you gave in the password field

– Logging is useful so we will enable it

– If you haven’t enabled compute mode earlier you can do it later, for now answer no on this

Now all you have to do to start mining is double click ‘start-monero.bat’.

Happy mining 🙂
