Cryptocurrency investors, beware: the IRS is cracking down.
We see numerous reactions to tax crackdowns on crypto traders ranging from “they’ll never find me” to “I need to move to a tax haven”.
Now, the IRS is sending letters – some educational, others threatening – to taxpayers they believe own crypto. One of the letters requires the taxpayer to certify under penalty of perjury that they are in tax compliance.
We’ve said for years that crypto investors should seek not only second residence in a crypto tax haven, but a second passport as well. For some, it may be too late.
