The EOS R and RP use a new RF mount, and if you already have a collection of EF lenses, you don’t have to worry about parting ways with your lenses. At the moment, every kit for the Eos R or Eos RP comes with an EF to EOS R adapter. You’ll be able to use your EF lenses on the EOS R or RP and allow you to ease into the RF lineup over time.

If you do a lot of flash photography, the EOS R and RP do not have a built-in flash, but any Canon compatible external flash will work. If you are looking to get into flash photography and don’t have a flash, we recommend picking up a flash such as the AP-305 from Altura Photo.

For longer shooting or video recordings we recommend getting the extended battery grip for the EOS R, if you’re a videographer you’re going to want an extended battery grip for its improved ergonomics and so you won’t have to be switching out batteries mid-shoot.

If you’re looking to go the affordable route and get the camera body only, then we recommend the best-selling rf lens which is the 35mm f1.8 macro and happens to be the most affordable of the RF lineup.
