What is #Stellar?
Stellar is a #crypto-currency that was born in 2014 by some great exponents of the #tech sector.
Among the founders are Joyce Kim, venture capital veteran and Jed McCaleb, creator of eDonkey: famous P2P file sharing platform.
Supported by the Stellar Development Foundation, initially it was born as a fork of the Ripple Lab protocol but its code soon undergoes a complete update.
Thanks to this update, Stellar uses servers to approve transactions, which take place every 2-5 seconds and every change is recorded in the public registry with the same speed.
This feature makes Stellar a crypto currency with very fast transaction times.
Stellar was created in order to offer financial services (such as money transfers, exchange of cryptocurrency and micropayments) based on a token called Lumen (XLM).
It is certainly not the first cryptocurrency created for this purpose, but its particularity lies in its mission: to promote the fight against poverty and offer financial services even to those who do not have access to traditional banks.
Its technology makes it possible to automatically identify the best possible exchange rate during a specific transaction and this ensures very low transaction costs.
Its features have enabled it to reach a market cap of over $850 million at the time we are recording this video, ranking thirteenth among the world’s largest cryptocurrencies.
He also recently formed a partnership with IBM, which will use the protocol to create a cross-border payments management system.
This system aims to reduce transaction times from one country to another and is already attracting the attention of many financial institutions on a global scale.
What influences the price of Stellar?
1. Bitcoin again. As already said in the previous video the trend of Bitcoin, inevitably influences the crypto market as it has the largest market cap and this has a certain cascade effect on other cryptocurrency.
2. Since it comes from the Ripple Labs protocol, many investors could consider the two currencies linked and therefore a price change of one could affect the other.
3. Its adoption by financial institutions could increase its price due to the mass-adoption effect.
