How To Easily & Safely Claim a Snapshot Fork

1) (Optional) Collect all of your coins into a single address or as few as possible. You can import multiple keys and leave funds separate but this just makes the import step much easier!

2) Leave them in these addresses until the balance snapshot happens. Once that is captured it doesn’t matter what happens to the original funds from there on out.

3) Now you will want to move the coins OUT of that address into a new address. This leaves the original address empty so when you import it there is ZERO risks of losing coins!

4) Obtain the private keys of the original snapshotted address(es) and import them into the new coin’s wallet to claim your rewards.

!!! Importing private keys is the ONLY way to prove ownership of a crypto address so this is unavoidable if you want to claim new coins. The steps above allow you to both prove ownership of a certain balance at a certain time while protecting your original funds in a brand new address with a brand new private key (that you should keep private!)

By emptying the address before you import it’s the private key you eliminate the risk of theft entirely. One cannot take from an already empty jar. It should also be noted you should NEVER use the imported address again as an added safety precaution!
