The last V10 car to win the World Championship, driven by the man who drove it back in 2005. The Renault R25 was the last V10-powered car to win the title, and the last F1 car to use six forward gears. For 2006, it was upped to 7 before going to 8 for the hybrid era.
Fernando Alonso took the car out for a few runs around Abu Dhabi on full slick Pirelli tyres and let’s be honest: Wasn’t hanging around. I reckon he could have gone way faster than he was going if he absolutely went for it. But it’s fun to see how these older cars handle the modern tracks. It’s just a bit of fun, really.
