NFL offensive lineman Russell Okung made a stunning tweet on May 13, 2019, simply saying: “Pay me in bitcoin.”

Now 20 months later, Okung is the first NFL player to receive part of his salary in bitcoin, depositing $6.5 million into the popular cryptocurrency.

Mallers stated: “It’s a big, big deal that we found a way to allow any individual to receive a [percentage] of their labor in bitcoin.”

With plans for other athletes in various sports to begin receiving they annual salaries in cryptocurrencies, Okung will certainly not the be the last to invest in crypto heading into 2023.

Meanwhile, with the current price of 1 bitcoin around $27,000, when do financial experts predict that this incredible rise in price will finally stop?

According to Mark Newton, founder and president of Newton Advisors, he stated: “It is still quite bullish on an intermediate-term basis given that it just broke out to new all-time highs.”

He continued: “I think we have a ways to go. Near term, my cycle composite shows us peaking out in early January.”

Boris Schlossberg, managing director of FX strategy at BK Asset Management, explained: “Can it go to $50,000? Absolutely. But if you are looking to trade or invest this asset, you have to have the mentality that it’s going to have a huge amount of volatility.”

We’ll see just how high the price of bitcoin climbs as we head into the new year, especially with America receiving some much needed stimulus which can be invested in crypto.

Finally, I just received news that Mitch McConnell and the Senate have blocked the House’s and President Trump’s $2,000 stimulus check proposal.

Trump was furious with the news, tweeting: “Unless Republicans have a death wish, and it is also the right thing to do, they must approve the $2000 payments ASAP. $600 IS NOT ENOUGH!”

While this might be the end for the $2,000 stimulus checks for now, it’s important to remember that this is just a stop-gap stimulus package.

When President Elect Joe Biden takes office next month, Congress is likely to pass further disaster relief efforts to help the millions of struggling Americans with some much needed fiscal support.
