Thirteen-year-old Zyere Jackson’s prognosis was grim. With a crushed skull and his lungs failing, pediatric doctors at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital feared he wouldn’t make it through the night. He’d been hit by a car crossing James Street as he was returning home from middle school on October 17, 2019. But a chance meeting in an elevator between his mom and a doctor, on his way to a different appointment, sparked a miracle that helped save the boy’s life.
