Ethereum is now the second biggest cryptocurrency in terms of total market capitalization again, overtaking Ripple.
Ethereum is up by more than 35 percent in first eight days of this New Year alone.
On 2nd January 2018, the digital currency’s co-founder, Vitalik Buterin, announced in a blog post the launch of two subsidy programs for improving the ability of the ethereum network to process more transactions. Grant amounts can range from $50,000 to $1 million, the post said.
Ethereum could be rising on the recent launch of a test network for Casper, a significant upgrade of the Ethereum protocol that would introduce a new way to how the network forms the consensus.
Smaller, lesser-known digital currencies such as Ripple have taken the spotlight in the last few weeks as they surged dramatically to join the ranks of the ten largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
