Nation Update: Worker reinstated and appointed after stoppage at BCC

The labour issue that developed at the Barbados Community College was resolved.
Last week Wednesday, maid/cleaner Jennifer Ifill was terminated, and according to Acting General Secretary of the National Union of Public Workers, Wayne Walrond, it was a “wrongful dismissal”.
This led to industrial action in the following days, which escalated into a work stoppage yesterday morning.
In an effort to show solidarity with their former co-worker, ancillary staff at the Howell’s Road institution downed their tools.
An urgent meeting was called with the union, the chairman of the board of management at the school and other officials.
Walrond said the meeting was cordial and it concluded with a favourable outcome for Ifill, who would be soon reinstated to her post and appointed. (Video by Shanice King) #MeAndMyNation #YourNewsYourTimeYourWay #TheSourceMatters #NationBarbados #Barbados
