This video discusses the rumors and possibility of Ripple buying SWIFT in order to spread the use of the Interledger protocol and XRP.
Ripple would benefit greatly from the use of Swift’s customer book, it would allow them to expand the use of XRP massively but Swift. I have a lot of doubts about Ripple buying Swift, I think that it doesn’t match up with Brad Garlinghouse’s ideas about how a business should be run. Ripple is supposed to “Crawl, Walk, Run” and buying swift would be a huge undertaking for a startup. Most likely Brad has said before, they will start small and make sure they are doing the best job with Cross-border payments first.
