Brad Garlinghouse is in Singapore right now, and he just talked about Ripple, Swift, and XRP with Bloomberg. He said that, in essence, Ripple is “taking over Swift” because their business is so much stronger and more adaptable to what banks really need. He also addressed institutional interest in XRP, which has increased dramatically over the past 3 months, the Coil micropayments app, and regulatory certainty regarding cryptocurrency from various governments around the world. Also, in what is sure to be a surprise for many, Jihan Wu has been removed from the board at BitMain. This is likely in preparation for the upcoming IPO. I can’t help but wonder if his recent comments about Craig Wright played into his role change.
