Hey Everyone, in this video we are taking a listen to a Sonor 14 x 5.25 Protean Snare Drum.

This Signature Snare is handcrafted by Sonor in Germany. They are made from 6-ply, premium hand-selected Birch wood to make a thin 6mm shell. The timeless Silky Black finish is offset by white underlays between the chrome fittings and the shell.
Birch is a very under rated shell for Snare drum making. Sonor have put it to good use several times in the past, this collaboration design with Gavin is no exception. This drum is incredibly versatile, great warmth, presence and tone throughout the tuning spectrum. Like Gavin’s playing the drum is extremely articulate and it feels great to play. This is a drum you could use for just about anything!
Like with all our audio demos there is no limiting to enhance the dynamic response, no digital reverbs are used, the ambience is naturally captured with room mics. We recommend listening through headphones or speakers for the best detail.
The music used on this video is not a backing track. Rocky put the drums down first and the music was created and recorded afterwards, much like in a studio session to help demonstrate a more authentic feel.
