Switching To The CANON EOS R?!

In this video I take the EOS R out for a spin on a photoshoot to try it out for the first time. I upgraded from the 5D Mark IV (don’t worry I still use/love my XT3!) – mainly for photography because I love the look of full frame for fashion style stuff.

Some stuff I was curious about was the crop 1080p mode. It crops into 1.7x (same as 4K crop) and I think it gives a really sharp image. I actually put the 4K and 1080 crop footage side by side and could hardly tell the difference even at 100%! The 50p is really nice too! + C-LOG is not terrible – I don’t like using LOG profiles much since they don’t hold up under ANY compression 10 bit or not but it wasn’t too bad on the R.

Obviously for photography this thing is epic. A little step up from the 5D IV especially usability and weight wise – buttons are way more customisable. Only thing I don’t like is how many buttons you have to press to switch from photo to video mode. I know you can set a custom C3 and press record to switch but it doesn’t carry across your current EV settings 🙁

All in all – solid camera. Looking forward to making more content for you guys with this beast.
