Lyrics:

1. We will drop what we are doing
When the Lord calls us away.
All the things that we’re pursuing
We will leave behind that Day.
The sole value they’ll have brought us
Is the virtue that we gain.
What each thing we’ve done has taught us
Will be all that will remain.

2. One seeks treasure that is hidden,
But another, earthly gain.
One to Jesus will be bidden,
But the other must remain;
For the Lord sees all things clearly,
Things the human eye can’t see—
Who is faithful and who merely
Lives a good life outwardly.

3. In a field two will be reaping;
One will stay and one will go.
In a bed two will be sleeping,
And their hearts the Lord does know.
One in glory will awaken;
One behind on earth will stay.
One is left and one is taken
When God calls His own that Day.

4. At the mill two women toil;
One is foolish, one is wise.
One in secret gathers oil;
One just lives before man’s eyes.
One competes here with her neighbor
And on earth has her reward.
One for Jesus does her labor—
Soon she’ll go to meet her Lord.

5. We will drop what we are doing
When God calls us on that Day.
All the things that we’re pursuing
Are just tools upon life’s way.
Let no earthly burdens bind us;
In each thing for Him prepare.
We will leave it all behind us
When we meet Him in the air.
