Q: what is ethereum?
Blockchain is just a technology – not an actual currency (I thought early on. Roommate made fun of me)

ETH – one of those things that the more you read the less you know. Try my best to simplify it down – even I still am not 100% sure and most experts aren’t. Ethereum is an open sourced software platform (based on blockchain tech) that allows developers to build and distribute apps (decentralized)

MASSIVE difference: ETH goal is NOT to be a currency. It is to operate “smart contracts” Ethereum is a protocol – totally different than a currency

Big geeks are gonna hate me for simplifying it like this: but think of bitcoin as furniture or things you buy, ETH as the house

Bitcoin has been called gold 2.0 — litecoin has been called silver 2.0 — ETH is completely different, yet you can still invest in the tech.

Ethereum uses something called “SMART CONTRACTS” – very new technology, but could be used and disrupt massive areas with corruption: voting, medical records, financial system, others.

Q: who made ethereum?
Vitalik Buterin, inventor of Ethereum (Toronto) in 2013 (currently a 23 year-old badass)
What’s unique and cool about Ethereum is that there are REAL figureheads that are running it.
Unlike Bitcoin who has headless figures and isn’t really run by people.
i.e. They have a plan: The 4 Planned Growth Phases: Frontier, Homestead (currently in), Metropolis, and Serenity.

Q: why is ethereum good?
I LOVE IT — if you don’t see the potential here, woah.
Extremely undervalued based on my research and listing to experts.
It’s where I’ll invest a majority of my money.
It could be the future.

Think of bitcoin as 1.0 ETH is 2.0 — google wasn’t the first search engine, but it’s now the biggest. It built on mistakes before it. Same with facebook to myspace.

Decentralized data storage — i.e. if you use facebook you have to give them all your info, if you use amazon you trust them with credit cards, they store it. ETH would do this in a safer way an lead to less corruption, theft, and confusion.

Linux or Microsoft – decentralized app space. People can BUILD on top of ethererum. More flexible and developer friendly. Good for a software company so other developers to build on top of.

SMART contracts – digital code – triggers – you can implement online to do tasks you need. kind of like a digital vending machine (Ameer Rosic). Put in dollar, punch in code, automation
