IOHK, a leading blockchain research and development company, announced earlier this year that its research paper describing Ouroboros Praos, an adaptively secure proof-of-stake algorithm, has been accepted to Eurocrypt 2018. The flagship conference, hosted in Tel Aviv, Israel by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), is one of the most prestigious academic events in the cryptography field. The process of academic peer review for Eurocrypt is notoriously tough, and the large majority of papers submitted for consideration are rejected.
In this video, IOHK CEO Charles Hoskinson talks about the history of Eurocrypt and the opportunity for the cryptographic community to come together for the presentation of the best papers in the industry.

The protocol is described in the paper published at https://eprint.iacr.org/2017/573 which was accepted to Eurocrypt and will be presented at the conference in Tel Aviv.
Ouroboros Praos builds upon an earlier version of the protocol, sometimes referred to as Ouroboros, given in a previous paper https://eprint.iacr.org/2016/889 accepted to Crypto 2017.
The previous protocol, Ouroboros, is the blockchain protocol underpinning Cardano, a top ten cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
