IOHK | Africa tour, May 2018

The IOHK team visited Africa in May, heading first to Ethiopia. Working with the Ministry of Science and Technology, we held the first blockchain forum in Addis Ababa, where ministers and government officials, business people and entrepreneurs came together to discuss how blockchain technology could be applied in Ethiopia.

Charles Hoskinson signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Minster of Science and Technology that laid out how IOHK would train Ethiopian software developers. IOHK will also work with local partners to explore using Cardano in the supply chain for coffee, Ethiopia’s biggest export.

John O’Connor, Director of African Operations, explains the agreement that was signed with the Ethiopian government and how IOHK will work in partnership with it.

Rwanda was the next stop for IOHK, and John talks about the potential for blockchain both there and in the rest of the continent.
