Gridseed 5 chip Asic Miner – Scrypt & Dual Mode Setup

Visit my Amazon store: https://www.amazon.co.uk/shop/tingawinga5 My look at the gridseed and a quick setup guide! Gridseeds don’t play well with Antminer U1/U2/U2+ so unplug them before use.

Gridseed has a noisy 90mm fan on a 80mm mounting but in dual mode or BTC needs a good fan as it gets hot when Mining BitCoin or other SHA256 coins. If using Scrypt mode LTC / Doge etc only a cheap 80mm fan can be put on instead I’ll make a video of that soon.

The Gridseed need 60W in either BTC mode (900MHz) or Dual mode (750MHz) or around 10W (900MHz) Scrypt mining.

Let me know if you want any more videos on Gridseed or other miners!

Gridseed can be quite tricky to get working so follow these steps:

Start:
1.Power Up gridseed with 12v center positive barrel and connect mini-USB to chosen controller.

2. Install driver: Windows needs: http://www.st.com/web/en/catalog/tools/PF257938
Then install 32/64 bit version, depending on your windows.

If Dual Mode Continue to step 5

3. If Scrypt only Download CGminer:
http://cryptomining-blog.com/wp-content/files/cgminer-3-7-2-gridseed-windows-jmordica.zip
UPDATE: BFGMiner 4.0.0 Also works:
http://cryptomining-blog.com/wp-content/files/bfgminer-4.0.0-windows.zip

4. Use config Similar to this:
cgminer.exe –scrypt -o stratum+tcp://POOL:Port -u USERNAME.MINER -p PASSWORD –gridseed-options=baud=115200,freq=900,chips=5 –usb :1 –hotplug 5

If Scrypt only, Your done! If you wanted dual mode do not use the above mining software.

If Dual mode,
first go to device manager and check the com port you have installed to. My Computer-System Properties-Device manager-Ports COM & LPT and now make a note of which COM port your using, e.g: COM17 etc.

5. Download Zardig: http://zadig.akeo.ie/
Select list all devices under options
Scroll to “STM32 Virtual Com port” or Older versions will be something like “Silicon Labs CP202x USB to UART Bridge”
Replace Driver with WIN USB driver.

6. Unplug all Antminer U1/U2/U2+ as they mess with the next steps.

7. Download CGMiner and CPU Miner
CGMiner: http://cryptomining-blog.com/wp-content/files/cgminer-3-8-5-gridseed-windows.zip
CPUMiner: http://cryptomining-blog.com/wp-content/files/cpuminer-GC3355-win32-fixed.zip

8. Edit the Bat of CGminer to something like this:
cgminer.exe –gridseed-options=baud=115200,freq=750,chips=5,modules=1,usefifo=0,btc=16 –hotplug=2 -o stratum+tcp://POOL:PORT -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD
Then Start it, When a share has been accepted move on to next step.

9. Modify CPU Miner BAT File Make sure virus scanner doesn’t attack it add it to exceptions list.
minerd.exe –dual –freq=750 –gc3355=COM19 -o stratum+tcp://POOL:PORT -u USER.WORKER -p PASSWORD

The COM Port is the port you looked at earlier before installing with Zadig.

Your Now mining! woo! At this point you can plug your Antminer U1/U2/U2+’s back in and start a seperate instance of BFGMiner to miner with those.

Thanks to all the resources I used, (CGMiner, BFGMiner and CPUMiner) and especially thanks to: www.cryptomining-blog.com/ As they had the best resource for the Gridseed.
