On May 1, 2010, 24-year-old escort Shannan Gilbert disappeared in the affluent Long Island community of Oak Beach without a trace. Months later, while police were conducting a routine training exercise in the neighboring Gilgo Beach area, officials discovered the skeletal remains of a woman — and then three more. But none of them were Shannan.
